An electric tractor could change how dairy farmers approach keeping fresh feed in front of cattle.

What previously has been known as a redundant task performed by an employee operating a diesel-powered tractor could potentially be an area of greenhouse gas emission reduction on large dairies.

Providing clean, accessible feed to dairy cows 24/7 is crucial for optimal milk production. As cows eat, they often push fresh feed away from them while rooting through what is provided. Dairy producers use a tractor with a special implement on the front to push feed closer to cattle in feed bunks. Automating this task could eliminate fossil fuels burned and cheapen the diesel bill for producers, as well as allowing employees to tend to other responsibilities.
