Beyond activity monitoring: New system tracks cows like professional athletes
Plus, AI analyzes the data produced every 2.2 seconds to improve herd health, welfare and productivity
A similar technology to that which provides data about how fast an NFL player sprints during a touchdown run or how far a Premier League soccer player runs during a full match is now also tracking cows 24/7. The new data capture technology from DeLaval, along with help from artificial intelligence (AI), enables producers to better understand what’s going on with their cows. The system knows where each cow is in the barn about every two seconds and can determine what she’s doing (eating, ruminating, moving, etc.). More than 30,000 cows are already using the new system worldwide.
